Will you marry me!

The best proposals are those witnessed by and shared with loved ones, because they are what make life’s journey a wonderful experience. This lovely couple was surrounded by those they love on this very special and unforgettable day. So happy to feature Lidia and Michael’s Proposal Story!

Lidia & Michael

Our proposal story starts on Sunday May 12th 2013 (Mother’s Day). My boyfriend, Michael, and I started our day with Sunday morning church service and afterwards headed towards the mall for last minute mother’s day gifts! He asked me to join him at Kay Jewelers to help him find a charm bracelet for his mother. He asked, ” How about we split up and you check on one side of the store, while I check on the other side so we can find the charm bracelet faster?” It seemed like a reasonable idea, so I agreed. Well after some time he came looking for me and informed me that he found what he was looking for. He showed me what he bought his mother, a beautiful mother/son charm bracelet! Anyway, we left the mall and headed towards his grandmother’s house for the mother’s day celebration =) we spent the day grilling outside and catching up with all of our loved ones. Michael then made an announcement for everyone to go inside to sing “Las Mañanitas” to all the mothers! So we all moved inside and gathered in a circle to sing to all the mamas while everyone was recording of course. Right after we all finished singing, Michael’s cousin kept the video going and asked Michael about his plans for school. Michael went on to say that he hopes to graduate soon and begins to give a speech of what his future career plans are. Then he starts to mention that I’m the reason he is succeeding in his life. He was so sweet! He started going into detail, ” Lidia is the reason I am where I am today, the reason why I decided to get a degree and start working.” I was a little confused as to how it turned from signing to all the mother’s to about me but nonetheless, I enjoyed the sweet comments! He was sitting next to me and then said this, “So that being said, (he gets in front of me, pulls out a small black box from his pocket and gets on one knee) WILL YOU MARRY ME?” I immediately turned to his grandmother in shock and clenched to her arm full of tears and endless emotions! I could not believe it. I did not expect it at all and could barely speak. I then put out my hand and said yes! Everyone cheered and cried at the same time. I mean what better way to ask the most important question than around the people who love us and care about us the most?! It took me a while to collect myself and then realized, he bought the ring right under my nose! Yes he found his mother’s gift but sent me away on purpose to buy the ring as well! As a joke, I told him, “I’m only marrying you because you’re clever!” This was the best day of my life; the perfect proposal. It was intimate, unexpected and shared with all of our loved ones; I wouldn’t of had it any other way!

We have been dating for 6 and 1/2 years and been engaged for 1 year and 9 months now. I cannot wait for our wedding day! It will be the day I marry my best friend and the love of my life! Here’s to November 7th, 2015!!!
