Undying Love

Last week I featured Kriselda’s Love Story and Proposal Story, from her perspective. Well, her fiance Mark has submitted his own Proposal Story and it is a doozy. It is such a great story from his point of view and in his own voice. He is the type of guy who will travel to the moon and back for the girl he loves. His proposal was incredible and it’s hard to believe it was a Plan B. This proposal was such a spectacular occasion, I can only imagine what the wedding will be like.

Mark & Kriselda

Well as awkward as it sounds, it all started back in 8th grade at C.C.D. First day of class, and of course I’m in the wrong class without knowing. I saw this light skin, curly haired girl that instantly caught my attention. I didn’t know much about her but she was so beautiful. As creepy as it sounds, I wouldn’t miss a single Wednesday of c.c.d. Because I knew I would see her. Now we both attended different Jr. High Schools so it wasn’t until 9th grade that we attended the same school together…and all the way up senior [year] we did not speak a word to each other. Now senior year came along and Kriselda was one of those smart, mature, didn’t talk to guys from school, knew she was beautiful kind of girls. Now I on the other hand, was a normal, [you] know, high school guy, played varsity football, skipped a few classes here and there, smoked a few “cigarettes” behind the baseball dugout..none the less we lived on two separate sides of the world. I already had a girlfriend and I’m sure she had a boyfriend. Well one day something possessed me to go up and say Hi, I mean what did I have to lose? Well we managed to swap phone numbers, boy was I on top of the world. Well one Friday night after a football game that I had just played in, Kriselda texts me and asks if I wanted to go grab something to eat, I was a sleep but of course I jumped up and said yes. Well she picks me up from my house and we go to Taco Bell. The drive home was awkward because in my head I was thinking, should I go in for a kiss when she drops me off.. hhmm. Well sweating bullets we get to my house and granted, my front drive way is pretty lengthy so the normal person drives all the way up to my driveway.. NOPE not Kriselda, I got dropped off on the side of the road haha hey no problem I’ll walk. Well I tell her thank [you] for picking me up for dinner cause actually I paid haha, and she cuts me off and says OK BYE! haha ok well I step out of her vehicle with broken dreams and I’m about to shut the door when she says, “wait!” Oh hell yea I thought I was in! And she asks me” can i borrow 3 dollars for cigarettes? ” Haha ummm sure. . Well time goes by,she goes her way I go my way until 5 years later. I had just graduated from the police academy, I had recently gotten out of a horrible relationship and Kriselda came in at perfect timing. Her boxer puppy was stolen from her house so she messaged me on MYSPACE haha asking me if I can help, I basically told her that she was out of luck, of course in a nice way because I wanted to talk to her. Well we found the dog and that same day she invites me over for a BBQ. Met the parents and all, extremely great people. We start officially dating after that. 5 years down the line we’ve gone over the mountains and through the woods but there was no doubt in my mind she was the one. About a month in after we started dating I took her to San Isidro, Texas to meet family and show her around. Now Kriselda wasn’t the type to get her high heels or hands dirty but as I was showing her around we wrote ,a note to each other and put it in a plastic water bottle, of course she didn’t know what I wrote and i didn’t know what she wrote. Well in my note I wrote “will you marry me?” We dug it in the ground and we told each other we would come back some other time and read the notes to each other. 5 years later I get the courage to decide to ask her to marry [me], but it came with a price, I had to go [through] her family first, which meant including her dad. Now her dad is a great man, we actually became really good friends but he had that look that I was never really sure if he was joking or not. Him and I, along with her brother and uncles on occasion, would drink beer outside the house at his, what he called “the thinking table”. We were laughing and joking like always and I throw in the “sir what do think of me asking Kriselda to marry me?” ::::crickets awkward silence::: we changed the subject never talked about it again and I realized this isn’t gonna be as easy as I thought. Well few months later, kriseldas uncle was expecting a baby, so we have a little family- guys diaper party at a ranch in San Diego, Texas, the theme was a hog hunt. My dad came along with us on this overnight guys only party. Kriselda’s uncle asked my dad when was I expecting to ask Kriselda to marry me because he’s losing patience haha after this it was all game! I got her a ring..now let me explain.. this is never an easy situation for any guy but I did it. I gathered all my immediate family at our dinner table, with my grandma included, and I asked them all for their blessing of course after a watery eyes conversation there was no doubt I had all their blessings. I spoke with Kriselda’s parents and I had their blessing. I even went and spoke with her grandmother with some pan dulce. Now, every body knew that I was gonna ask her of course Kriselda had no idea. I gathered her closest girlfriends and had their blessing as well. I gave them all a date and reminded them (like 50 times not to be late!!) Plan A was I was going to take Kriselda to San Isidro, go horse back riding to that exact same spot where we had dug the note and I was gonna read her my note- will you marry me. And then we were gonna horseback ride to a nice covered tent where all of our family awaited- of course as a surprise to Kriselda.. well since it rains sooooo much here in the valley, of all weekends it rained that weekend. I quickly jumped to plan B. I was so [mad] and i was close to pulling out all my hair! Between Kriselda’s mom ( I do not know what I would have don’t with out her, along with her aunts and sister in law) we managed to find a salon. I purchased 20 lbs brisket rice beans potato salad and alotttt of beer, a DJ- I mean like an actual wedding like I’ve been told. I told all her family and friends to arrive at 6 pm, along with my family and not be late! I told Kriselda that her and I were going to a coworkers wedding so she had to be ready by 4pm which actually meant meant 6 pm on her watch so it was fine. Well by this time my anxiety level was sky high because I wanted it to be perfect considering it was plan b. I pick her up from her house and she was yapping and yapping away about God knows [what]. I had no idea what she was saying because I was so nervous I didn’t wanna ruin this. I text her friends telling them we’re 2 minutes away. We drive up to the salon and she starts looking at all the parked cars, which of course were family members vehicles. So she wouldn’t catch on- which usually takes her a while haha, I quickly get off and we walk inside, all I remember her saying was “geez this wedding is really quiet’ haha- remember she thinks we’re at my friends wedding. We walk in and everyone is standing. I had set up a little table with pictures of her and i along with pictures of deceased family members which I know they would have loved to be there to witness it ( my grandpa, my aunt, kriseldas aunt). I grab the mic and i give her a speech of how much I love her how much she means to me and how much I would want to spend the rest of my life with her. I got on one knee, removed my hat and asked her to be my wife.. she just nodded yes.. all I remember was her uncle yelling out, well??? Haha it was perfect, we danced the night away, all my family was present, all her family was present and i wouldn’t have changed it for anything! Now we have a small rescued boxer pup that we treat as our daughter and now we’re prepping for the wedding, set for Nov 27,2015.. I think haha jk. Moral of it all, we’ve been through hell and back, even when it rains on your perfect plans we still come through and have expressed our [undying] love for each other.

Sweet Favors

Pastel Cookies
The best favor is one your guests can enjoy, whether it be a tasty treat or an object with a practical use. My favorite favors to give my guests at any party I throw are sweet favors, I especially love cookies. Cookies can be made to fit any occasion, style, shape, color etc. There is no end to their versatility.

I know when you think of cookies you think of some boring, not so elegant looking cookie, but cookies have come a long way. Some are so pretty and ornate they look incredible in a cellophane bag or clear box placed on top of the charger plate or place the cookie inside a pretty box. Add whimsy to your wedding by hanging the cookies from pretty branches. Here are just a few examples of some really extraordinary cookies.

Trending Now!

Boho Chic Weddings are trending. These laid back, nontraditional weddings aren’t a completely new thing, but they are quite prevalent in blogs and magazines at the moment. I love all the quintessential boho chic elements: flower crowns, flowy gowns, loosely braided hair or easy tousled locks, intimate ceremonies, mismatched vases/plates/glasses etc. When all of these different and unique elements come together it creates such an extraordinary look.
